FULL ITINERARY

Day 1

Airport – Colombo

  • "Ayubowan" and welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport Colombo, you will be met by our company representative and your chauffer. Then you will be transferred to your hotel in Colombo. (35 km / approx. 45 mins)

    Colombo is a city with a history and a mixture of colonial buildings and modern life. Colombo Fort area is where most of the historical sites are concentrated, known to the locals as Pettah. Colombo is a place where you find an array of restaurants ranging from local to western cuisines and offers a range of shopping options.

Day 2

Colombo – Weligama

  • After breakfast, leave Colombo and proceed to Weligama (145 km / Approx 2.5 hrs.) You will be seeing Stilt Fishermen en-route. Check-in to your hotel in Weligama and relax in the south coast beaches in the afternoon.

    Weligama is world famous for its distinct "Stilt Fishermen", who erect a single pole in the chest-deep water on the beach, just few meters off-shore equipped with rods and baskets and cast their lines out beyond the surf break to catch small fish.

Day 3

Mirissa – Whale Watching – Galle

  • Early this morning at approx.6.00 am you will leave hotel with packed breakfast and proceed to Mirissa for your Whale Watching Boat Tour. (5 kms / approx. 10 mins). Boat leaves from Mirissa harbour at 7.00 am and the duration of the tour is approx. 3.5 hrs.
  • Situated within international whaling commission's protected zone in the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka has become a major hot spot for whale and dolphin watching. There is a good chance of spotting sperm whales and blue whales as the migration path from Africa and Australia lie just off Point Dondra. Blue whales, Bryde´s whales, Sperm whales, Fin whales, bottle nose dolphins, common dolphins and spinner dolphins are found in the waters of Southern Seas of Sri Lanka. Be sure to obey all safety rules given by the crew when going out into the ocean and wear life jackets at all times. Wear plenty of sunscreen, a cap or shades for your boat ride. It is also important not to feed any animals that come towards your boat. It is important not to disturb the whales in their natural habitat and don't force the guide to take the boat too close to the sea mammals.
  • Drive back to your hotel around lunchtime.
  • Evening proceed to Galle (40 km / 50 mins) for a walking tour of Galle Dutch Fort (UNESCO World Heritage) passing the lighthouse, old portuguese harbour and with stops at the Dutch Church and many colonial era buildings. Thereafter enjoy early dinner at a restaurant inside the Fort (Optional- Payment Directly)
  • Under the leadership of Lorenzo de Almeida Portuguese made their first landing at the Galle Harbor. Capital of southern Sri Lanka in 1587; the Portuguese annexed Galle from its Singhalese kings and built its first fortress naming it "Santacrusz". To this day it looks back to 500 years of nurture under Singhalese, Portuguese, Dutch and British stewardship. You will find colonial buildings, fort walls, many cafés and shops among the narrow streets inside fort.

Day 4

Weligama – Bentota

  • In the morning, after breakfast leave Weligama and proceed to your beach hotel in Bentota (90 km / approx. 2 hrs).
  • Check-in to your hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
  • Bentota is a world renowned tourist destination for variety of water sports possibilities (water‐skiing, jet‐skiing, surfing, windsurfing, sailing, deep‐sea fishing and wreck or reef diving) that are nowhere else to be found on the island. Safe swimming conditions combined with fun water sport and exciting excursions provide a marvellous background for a relaxed holiday in Sri Lanka.

Day 5

Bentota

  • After breakfast proceed to Balapitiya (15 km / 20 mins) for a Boat Safari in Maadu River (Optional – Payment Directly). Drive back to the hotel visiting a Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda.
  • Maadu River is a complex coastal wetland ecosystem of mangroves and islands. There are around 64 islands in the river and lagoon. Maadu River wet zone has high ecological, biological and aesthetic significance and being home to many species of plants, mollusks, fish, butterflies and birds. A boat trip is a wonderful way of seeing some of the hundreds of species of plants and animals.
  • Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka started a Turtle Hatchery on the Kosgoda beach in 1981, after realizing the threat to the turtles world over. Hatcheries pay fishermen for eggs that they collect and then hatchery staff who then bury the eggs protected areas before releasing the hatchlings into the waters. When the baby turtles are 2-4 days old and are able to swim out, they are taken to the sea and released.

Day 6

Airport
